Elevate Your Brand’s Voice: How to Use the RISEN Framework with ChatBots
Apr 22, 2024As coaches and solopreneurs, finding your voice can feel daunting.
We all know AI 'helps' but are you spending more time editing and regenerating content than it's take you to write it in the first place?
What if you had a tool that not only enhanced your clarity and confidence but also felt as intuitive and supportive as a brainstorming session with a trusted colleague?
But Jess, I am not a copywriter, that is why I'm using ChatGPT in the first place...
But nothing! Remember, "a hammer is no good to you if you are not a carpenter; it is a tool, not a replacement."
Learning to use AI effectively is akin to mastering any essential skill—it enhances your abilities without overshadowing your innate expertise.
Let's get to know the RISEN Framework, a method designed to harness the capabilities of AI, like ChatGPT, to amplify your unique brand voice and sharpen your writing tools.
R - Role
Firstly, define the role you want your AI to play.
Do you need a creative writer, a technical expert, or perhaps a blend of both? Specifying this role is crucial.
For instance, by instructing ChatGPT to act as "a professional copywriter who specialises in SEO optimisation" you tailor its responses to be more aligned with your SEO goals, ensuring the content is not only engaging but also ranks well on search engines.
I - Instructions
Next, articulate what you want your AI to do.
This could range from generating blog post ideas to creating full drafts.
For example, if you want to develop a post about '5 Ways to Enhance Client Relationships,' instruct your AI clearly: "Generate a blog post outline focusing on strategies to improve client relationships, including real-life examples and actionable tips."
S - Steps
To achieve the best results, provide your AI with detailed steps, much like you would when delegating tasks to a team member.
This might involve setting stages for your content creation, such as:
- Research the latest trends on client relationship management.
- Draft an engaging introduction that captures these insights.
- Outline the main body, divided into sections with headers and bullet points for clarity.
E - End Goal
Clearly define what you expect to see as the final output.
If your goal is to create a comprehensive guide that positions you as a thought leader, your instruction might be: "Produce a detailed, well-researched article that ends with a strong call to action, encouraging readers to join your free masterclass."
N - Narrowing
Set constraints to ensure the AI operates within your desired framework.
These might include the tone (professional yet approachable), specific phrases to include or avoid, and even the structural elements like bullet points or numbered lists.
This step ensures the content reflects your brand's values and vibe without deviating into generic territory.
Examples and Application
Imagine you’re crafting a blog targeted at novice entrepreneurs by applying the RISEN framework:
- Role: Define ChatGPT as a business coach.
- Instructions: Ask it to draft a blog that simplifies a complex business concept.
- Steps: Direct it to include definitions, examples, and visuals.
- End Goal: Aim for a beginner-friendly guide that encourages readers to engage further by signing up for a workshop.
- Narrowing: Specify that the tone should be encouraging and supportive, using layman’s terms.
Harnessing Your New Tool
With the RISEN framework, ChatGPT is no longer the daunting program that makes you sound like a bot.
It's an extension of your creative process, mirroring your brand's ethos and engaging your audience authentically.
As you integrate these practices, you’ll discover that using AI doesn't dilute your message but rather sharpens and expands its reach.
